Our Story PonteBella was founded in 2003 by Colombian doctors with a conviction: shapewear should be designed for real bodies. The company was born from an in-depth study of diverse body shapes that the big brands were sizing wrong — and from the belief that every woman deserves garments made for her figure, not adapted to it. And behind every PonteBella garment is an even older story: since 1980, our fajas have been handcrafted in a family workshop in Bogotá, Colombia, by women and men who are heads of household — many of them mothers rebuilding their lives after being displaced by violence. Our spiral steel boning starts as 1-millimeter steel wire — coiled, flattened, cut, polished and tip-sealed in our own workshop in an 11-step process — so it supports your posture without ever poking. Our hooks are made from the same steel, sewn onto cotton tape and vulcanized into the garment under hydraulic pressure. That's why a PonteBella closure never rips off, no matter how firm the compression: it isn't glued on — it's fused into the latex itself. Our natural latex comes from the tree and is cured with an alkaline heat process we've refined for more than 20 years — reducing the water-soluble proteins responsible for most latex sensitivities.
